Born 1959, I grew up in the suburbs of what was once the home of the largest car companies in the world, Detroit, Michigan. I spent a great deal of my career there working for the ad agencies that serviced theses car companies. I moved to London 3 years ago and am now based in the UK.
My visual style has been described as illustrative, painterly and cinematic. It is a product of years of refinement and study. The sidelong glance, the offbeat expression, unique beauty, or a face etched with years of living are a few of the qualities that make a great portrait to me. My goal is to create epic, dramatic imagery using carefully crafted lighting and color palettes combined with a sense of mystery, whimsy and humor. I often use subtle symbolism in my work to further the sense of mystery and completely involve the viewer with the image... sometimes answering as many questions as are created. I use a combination of photographic craftsmanship and modern post processing techniques to achieve the 'look'. I am also very much involved in CGI rendering and of course image compositing, combining virtual and analog elements to create imagery that would have been unimaginable just a few year ago.
